RIT has a plan at least to start; that's powerful if routine turns to MAYDAY. At this fire we watched the working crews put the fire out without need for the RIT. Good day.

The Westminster (SC) Fire Department will be hosting the third annual Rippin' Rescue class on March 29, 2014. This will be a one day class with all hands-on training.

Training is not busy work. I hope this mentality is not true and trust we will not let it be the norm for our craft. If this is truly the unions stance; it is hogwash, B.S. and an injustice to the service.

Today is the fourth anniversary of the successful rescue of Columbus Division of Fire Lt. Polaski. Spend some time with your crew talking RIT, Maydays, and S&R.

We did a little high-line set-up training in the apparatus bay yesterday. It ended up being a pretty low-line, but it worked to practice the set-up.

Remember victim stabilization (arm) and protection from sparks and the cutting wheel is needed (safety glasses, spatulas, etc).

When the driver or the other front seat passenger is pinned under the dash we should be able to blitz the side of the car and lift the dash fast.

Mrs. Sweat Bee didn't get a video of Christmas morning, but from the pictures it seems the Sweat Bee wanted a these gifts like a Red Ryder BB gun. Happy breaking, breaching, and forcing.

The following is a description of a machinery rescue call from Andrew Brassard and the Milton (Ontario) Fire Department. They received the call around 11:30 pm a few days back for a man caught in a machine at the Leaver Mushroom Plant. At the end are some leasons learned and other things to think about.
