We know a guy that needed a semi tractor cut up. He just happened to know we would cut it up for him. So, that's what we did. A quick-hitter class of sorts, but its not everyday you get to cut up a semi tractor.

Back at the May 2013 BGSU State Fire School while teaching in the heavy rescue class, a group of instructors were passing around some newer pieces of equipment to the rescue world. One was the UFO Rigging Cube.

Last month while at the School Transportation News Expo in Reno I learned about the new 98 gallon propane tank we will be seeing on some of Blue Birds school buses.

When I say thinking with muscle I include your cranium muscle. At last nights training we set-up a roll-over pinning scenario and also moved big blocks. It's not rocket science, but sometimes we could fall into a trap of what is not fastest and safest.

Over this weekend the world saw two fatal charter bus crashes. Although different in construction, these buses give rescuers similar challenges because of the numbers of passengers. Lots of personnel and resources are needed for incidents of this magnitude.

The Toledo Fire & Rescue Department responded to what was dispatched as a car crash on July 3, 2013. Upon arrival they found a huge sinkhole that swallowed up a car with the driver still inside.
